Rachel Borenstein
President

Rachel Borenstein is president and owner of AAA Engineering. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago. At AAA Engineering she has created an environment which emphasizes the strengths of each employee and the importance of teamwork.

In her role as president, she is involved in overseeing the QA/QC process thus insuring that the company is producing the best possible product. She is the day to day company manager, directing the business development effort as well as ensuring the financial stability and viability of the company.

Through Rachel’s leadership, and our diverse group of talented engineers, AAA Engineering has built an enviable portfolio of complex projects, and in a short period of time, has become one of the most sought after MEP engineering firms in the Chicagoland area.

Alex Farekas, P.E.
Senior Electrical Engineer/Engineering Manager

Alex Farekas has over 40 years of professional engineering experience. His current position of Senior Engineering Manager utilizes his vast experience in allocation of resources, scheduling of staff, defining priorities, and performing QA/QC activities.

Alex also develops engineering proposals for new work in conjunction with our business development staff. Throughout his professional career Alex has designed and implemented unique customized systems to catalog and track technical activities, enabling the smooth efficient flow of the production of projects.

Sheldon Kirshner, P.E.
Senior Electrical Engineer

Sheldon Kirshner has over 40 years of experience with CTA transit facilities and is a noted expert in the field of traction power engineering design and construction oversight for the DC railroad industry.

Sheldon has worked on all types of projects for the CTA and has been involved in the development of many of their design criteria and specifications for both traction power and station construction.

Sheldon also has over 30 years of experience in roadway lighting and traffic signal design. He has worked for several City of Chicago departments and has developed many of the roadway lighting specifications in use today.

Michael Blumenthal has more than 40 years of electrical engineer experience in both the public and private sectors.

With over four decades of experience in managing complex electrical projects he is an asset to any team or project. He is especially gifted in translating big-picture vision into practical, strategic action plans for success and is a known leader in his field.
