We are prequalified by the Illinois Department of Transportation for Electrical & Mechanical Engineering, Typical Lighting, and Construction Inspection. Our expertise includes specialized design services for Traction Power and Moveable Bridges. Noteworthy projects include the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Red Line Extension, the CTA Damien Green Line Station, the Elgin-O’Hare Expressway, and the award-winning Chicago River Walk.
Key Responsibilities:
Resident Engineer on various infrastructure projects involving transit, roadway, bridge, and underground improvements using local, state, and federal funding.
Prepare all construction documentation per IDOT policies and procedures using CMMS, or similar detailed local agency required documentation.
Oversee field personnel and contractors on the project site to ensure the improvements are built in accordance with plans and specifications.
Manage field activities which may include layout, inspection, documentation and pay estimates
Oversee project closeout
Resolve conflicts and/or deficiencies as needed
Measure and calculate pay item quantities, prepare contractor pay applications, and oversee preparation of construction record drawings.
Develop change orders and pay estimates.
Evaluate plans for constructability and for the prevention of potential contractor claims for additional compensation.
Coordinate directly with the client providing daily or weekly reporting, preparing for and chairing preconstruction meetings, and responding directly to the client with project issues.
Work closely with and manage other team members and positively interact with the public.
Manage subconsultants for projects where AAA Engineering is the prime consultant
Ability to manage multiple projects at once if required.
Required Qualifications:
B.S. degree in Engineering or Construction Management
10-20 years of construction experience
Illinois PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months
Certified in IDOT's Documentation of Contract Quantities
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience with IDOT, CDOT and/or Illinois Tollway projects
Preferred Qualifications
MicroStation experience a plus
Involvement in professional societies such as ACEC, ASCE, IRTBA or APWA among others is a plus.
Experience in projects with Transit Agencies such as CTA, Metra, and or Pace
Experience with the construction oversight of multidisciplinary projects where ITS and/or electrical components are installed
