O’Hare International Airport, International Terminal

Emergency Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) System and Ground Service Equipment (GSE) chargers replacement and encasement.

Terminal 5 at O’Hare International Airport is a facility that was completed and opened for use in 1993. The facility contained the original equipment installed which consisted of 90 battery Ground Service Equipment (GSE) battery chargers and three UPS systems. The equipment had become increasingly difficult to maintain. The purpose of this project was to replace the equipment with energy efficient, maintenance friendly, long lasting equipment.

The project involved:

  • Investigation of the systems and associated electrical distribution systems
  • Evaluations of current and proven technologies and systems
  • Recommendations for the optimal solution taking into account maintenance, operation, energy efficiency, environmental conditions, and budgetary considerations
  • Surveying, modifying and upgrading associated electrical distribution systems
